“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” --Winston Churchill
Across many cultures, perseverance is a treasured trait. For Finnish people, the word sisu
is particularly special. Its meaning is a combination of perseverance,
courage, and rational behavior in the face of problems, adversity. When
things get tough, a Finn demonstrates sisu.
Here at MOTAL we definitely incorporated the meaning of sisu. Despite the enormous obstacles 2020 has
thrown in our path, we have accomplished a great deal. Thank you for your enthusiasm for our
online articles, as well as for your support and generosity over the
past year.
As 2021 approaches, nonprofit 501(c)(3)
organizations depend on donations, and we are no different, We ARE
different, however, in that with the onset of the pandemic, our strategies had to change but we have continued to educate people about education. Our plans for the new year
include:
- Continuing our current strategy of posting trustworthy and informative articles.
- Launching a COVID-19 oral history project that will record the thoughts of educators and parents as they struggle with the challenge of educating children in this difficult environment.
For our operational essentials, MOTAL
will depend on the generosity of those who enjoy and benefit from our
services—namely, YOU. As the holiday season approaches, we are
asking you to help us raise a total of $15,000 for our 2021 programs.
Please consider making a donation. Any amount you can
give, from $10 to $300 (or beyond), will help us achieve our mission.
Through the
generosity of our entire board of directors, we are able to match all
contributions up to $6,000, starting NOW.
Thank you in advance!
