Hello MOTAL Friends,
As a charitable nonprofit, The Museum of Teaching and Learning provides a free, impactful community service: education. Whereas all museums are educational, MOTAL shares prominent trustworthy facts and stories ABOUT teaching and learning through multiple platforms.
Visitors include students in grades 4 and up, teachers and professors, and community members. Their responses confirm we make a difference by verbal and written comments such as “Wow! I didn’t know this! More people should see this! Fabulous!”
Our key endeavor is to provide traveling exhibitions that are thoroughly researched and well-designed. Several present significant subjects in American educational history, others make cross-cultural education-related comparisons, plus the newest interactive mobile investigates science and psychology to share how young brains develop and how parents can help their young children grow and succeed.
There’s more—MOTAL 1) trains docents and provides leadership materials; 2) gathers and maintains a fine collection of education-related artifacts that are taken out to share with the public at community events; 3) writes, edits, and publishes weekly articles and stories to distribute by email blast to subscribers across the nation each Friday; 4) produces and shares interview-based podcasts on multiple media platforms; 5) educates and engages college students in hands-on intern projects that build skills for future employment.
As our most ardent supporters, we know that you value what we do and appreciate our efforts to showcase artifacts and build our community around our collective memory in education. Unlike other museums collections that are amassed by a private collector, MOTAL curates unique and well-loved artifacts that have been donated by members of the community. It is all possible because of your involvement!
